student dressed in Naplese garb for Heritage Night celebrating holidays

The Mt. Healthy Early Learning Center hosted the first parent engagement event in the school in November. ELC Assistant Principal Shana Burg stated, “It was great to see the staff having fun setting up for the event and working with the families!” The very first ELC Open House and World Heritage Night offered parents and families the first opportunity to see the finished school building, visit their children’s classrooms and experience a cultural event about holidays. World Heritage Night helped students and families learn about three multi-cultural holidays - Diwali, Día De Los Muertos, and Kwanzaa. Several people contributed to the event with informational displays about each holiday in addition to colorful props and decorations that related to it. The children had the opportunity to create fun crafts based on each holiday’s traditions including coloring pictures, making brightly colored paper designs, sugar skull ornaments, and foam kinaras. Families thoroughly enjoyed meeting teachers and staff, visiting the classrooms, and celebrating World Heritage Night together. One family even asked when the next event will be!
