Discover Within; Journey Beyond graphic flyer for the programs

Mt. Healthy High School students have an opportunity to discover the possibilities within themselves and journey beyond them! In mid-September, the school launched a BEYOND program for students in grades 9 through 12 providing extracurricular activities, credit recovery opportunities, and tutoring for current classes.

The BEYOND program’s sessions run after school from 2:45pm until 6:45 pm, Monday through Thursday. The Mt. Healthy Food Service Department also provides an after-school meal for students prior to sessions starting. In addition, transportation is available for students after the programs finish in the evening.

The BEYOND program provides three main opportunities for students. The first is enrichment and extracurricular activities. Mt. Healthy CSD administrators and staff spent a great deal of time and energy determining areas of interest that students may have. Many of these areas are difficult to meet within the school day. Similarly, administrators surveyed the high school staff to find their hidden talents and passions. Blending the two areas together, it creates many possibilities and opportunities for specialized interests, learning, and building positive relationships amongst the students and teachers. “As a critical part of the community, we are trying new ways to support young people with their school academics as well as everyday life,” stated Mt. Healthy High School Principal Arnez Gray. “We welcome community members’ support of Mt. Healthy High School students through encouragement in joining activities offered in the afterschool Beyond program.”

The second area of the program provides credit recovery for students. The program offers students a small group environment through which they receive direct support from teachers to get back on track academically.

The third area of the program offers tutoring for students in their current classes. The BEYOND team works closely with the high school school counseling team and teachers to identify struggling students.  The main goal is to help students stay focused on their academic success and prevent any obstacles that could force a failure in their classes.

Anime club, Robotics club, and Scholarship club are just a few of the current extracurricular activities that are currently occurring in BEYOND. Several new opportunities will be beginning in the next quarter and second semester of the school year. “Additionally, we welcome your support by attending one of our school-sponsored events, “ continued Ms. Gray. Stay tuned for emerging from these excellent opportunities in Mt. Healthy City School District.
