A Morning of Achievement: Top 25 Senior Breakfast Celebration Mt. Healthy City School District proudly hosted the Top 25 Senior Breakfast this morning at the Jr/Sr High School Banquet Center, honoring the outstanding academic achievements of the top 25 ranked students in the class of 2024. The event was attended by students, their families, friends, faculty members, and guests. The morning began with a breakfast prepared by our culinary staff and students, featuring an array of treats including bacon, eggs, pastries, and beverages. As a special token of appreciation, each student was presented with a complimentary gift from GEAR UP, a program dedicated to helping students prepare and succeed in post-secondary education. Principal Amy Criswell delivered inspiring words of encouragement and wisdom to the attendees, highlighting the passion and commitment demonstrated by the students throughout their academic journey. Senior Counselor Michael O'Toole then took the stage to individually recognize and present certificates to each of the top 25 students, acknowledging their academic accomplishments and contributions to the school community.

Students have the opportunity to choose their own adventure during the month of June! This program is for Credit Recovery, Original Credit, JH enrichment and just plain FUN everyday. See below for the details! Adventure #WORTHY- you are worthy of a fun filled summer - come spend it with us! All students register using the QR code and commit to attend programming June 3-27, 8:00-12:00pm each day. Imaginations Run Wild: Chalk Drawing Contest Today we celebrated creativity and talent as our Chalk Drawing Contest unfolded. With 59 artists and 5 student helpers, the front parking lot of our Jr/Sr High School turned into a canvas of dreams and fantasies inspired by the theme, "Imagination Unleashed." Thank you to our staff volunteers, as well as to the duo of Mrs. Glenn and Mrs. Litkenhaus, who organized and coordinated an event that allowed for students to have fun and enjoy working on a project together! The day kicked off early at 8 am, with artists armed with buckets of chalk and a pre approved draft of the art they would be creating. As the event came to a close, the parking lot was filled with a tapestry of scenes and unique pieces of art. The diversity of styles and themes showcased the unique perspectives of each team. What's more, every participant earned a Fine Arts graduation seal and the chance for a cash prize for those whose creations captured the eyes of our judges. This year's theme, "Imagination Unleashed," brought out the best in our artists and encouraged them to push themselves to explore different artistic themes. Once again, a big round of applause to all our participants, helpers, and organizers for making this Chalk Drawing Contest a day to remember.

5th & 6th Grade Girls Take the Lead in STEM Learning at University of Cincinnati MTHCS 5th and 6th grade girls proudly participated in Girls in STEM Day at the University of Cincinnati, encouraging their interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Hosted by UC and sponsored by Turner Construction, P&G, Pilot Chemical Company, and the Greater STEM Collaborative, the event welcomed 30 enthusiastic 5th and 6th grade girls from North and South Elementary. Accompanied by staff members Ms. Tubbs and Mrs. Haffner, our students engaged in a range of interactive sessions designed to inspire and educate. These included: Bath Bomb Creation: With guidance from P&G volunteers, students had a hands-on experience in crafting bath bombs, sparking their curiosity in chemistry and product design. Building a Wall Project: Turner Construction engineers led a session where students learned about the intricacies of construction, from insulation to wiring, plumbing, and aesthetics. IT Wire Circuit Workshop: UC’s IT program facilitated a workshop where students created an Information Technology wire circuit. This program also offers opportunities for high school students to earn certifications and college credits while still in high school, thanks to Mr. White’s teaching. Through these experiences, our young learners gained valuable insights into various STEM disciplines, encouraging their passion and interest in pursuing future careers in these fields. Thank you to UC, staff volunteers, and all sponsors for making this event possible.

David Gray II Recognized at Northwest Exchange Club's Youth of the Month Program David Gray II, has been recognized as a nominee for the Youth of the Month program by the Northwest Exchange Club. The program honors outstanding high school juniors who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, school activities, and community service. At a recent event attended by students from various schools, including Lasalle, Mercy McCauley, Northwest, North College Hill, Roger Bacon, and Colerain, David Gray II emerged as the representative from Mt. Healthy. This recognition underscores David's achievements and contributions to both his school and the wider community. During the event, David delivered a speech focusing on the themes of diversity and inclusion, highlighting how these values have profoundly impacted his life. He emphasized the supportive environment at Mt. Healthy City Schools, where he has been encouraged to embrace his unique identity and pursue his goals with confidence. David, who ranks second in the Class of 2025, notably skipped a grade in junior high after advocating for a more challenging academic experience, highlighting his determination. In addition to his academic success, David is actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He is a proud member of the National Honor Society, has volunteered with the Kathryn Betts Foundation at a Reds Game, and participates in both the school band and basketball team. Accompanied by his family, including his mother Latasha, father David Gray Sr, and sister Megan, David was honored alongside other finalists at the event. While the winner from Mercy/McCauley received a $1,000 check, each finalist, including David, received a $250 award in recognition of their achievements. The Youth of the Month program, hosted by the Northwest Exchange Club, serves as a platform to celebrate the talents and accomplishments of exceptional young leaders like David Gray II. Mt. Healthy City Schools commends David for his dedication, leadership, and positive impact on the school community.

After-School Boxing Club for Students Check out this innovative addition to our extracurricular activities: the Boxing Club. The club is aimed at promoting exercise, camaraderie, self-defense skills, and has proven to be an exciting opportunity for students across our district. Partnering with Real Deal Boxing Club, known for its commitment to training and excellence in the sport, will give students who demonstrate progress and dedication within the school club an opportunity to join Real Deal Boxing Club. As part of the 21st Century grant initiative, which emphasizes holistic development and enrichment for students, the After-School Boxing Club offers an array of benefits. Not only do students have the chance to learn self-defense techniques and improve their fitness levels, but they are also provided with meals. The upcoming highlight for our boxers is a field trip scheduled for May 4th at the Flock Dome. Here, students will get to watch members of Real Deal Boxing Club in action, witnessing firsthand the skill and practice required to excel in the sport. During a recent practice session, we had the opportunity to observe the club in action. Students engaged in a dynamic warm-up routine that included jump roping, followed by instruction on proper hand wrapping techniques by advisor and teacher Joel Bartlett and Mindy Reichelt. Notably, experienced students took on mentorship roles, assisting their peers in learning how to wrap their hands. The practice session was structured with timed intervals so that students could engage in a workout with various exercises and equipment. From free-standing bags to speed bags, heavy bags, angled heavy bags, and double end bags, students had the chance to explore different aspects of boxing training under expert guidance. We are excited about the positive impact the After-School Boxing Club continues to have on our students, not only does it encourage physical fitness and self-defense skills, but it also creates a sense of belonging and teamwork among participants. We are grateful for the partnership with Real Deal Boxing Club and look forward to seeing our students thrive in the sport.

Mt. Healthy Students Showcase Mathematical Thinking in Multi-State Tournament! We're bursting with pride as our wonderful students demonstrated their mathematical prowess in the Mathematics Pentathlon Tournament in Indianapolis, IN this past weekend! From generating complex equations to critical thinking and problem solving at their finest, our “MATHLETES” engaged in thrilling competitions, each playing five different games at their respective grade levels, all aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards for Math. Competing against students from multiple states, Quincy D., Maya M., Mercy M., Joy O., Aubrianna T., Lamonte G., Alyanna H., Kenya H., A’Niyla G., Bruce B., June B., Sky C., Dominique C., Jaime M., Edmond O., and Maki G. upheld the highest standards of academic excellence and sportsmanship, representing Mt. Healthy City School District with pride and distinction. In the special awards ceremony, all competitors were recognized for their effort and dedication, receiving certificates to commemorate their participation and accomplishments in this prestigious tournament. Notably, we're thrilled to announce that two of our remarkable students, fourth grader Lamonte G. and seventh grader Maki G., emerged as medalists! Their achievements serve as an inspiration to us all! A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes out to Zack Ehling, Jane Haffner, Khristi Snelling, Valarie Carter, and Kelley Fitzpatrick. Their unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in nurturing our students' growth and learning in the Math Pentathlon Club settings leading up to the tournament. Moreover, we extend our deepest appreciation to the parents of our students who completed game monitor training and assisted at the competition by monitoring game play throughout the day. A Global Showcase: ELC's Multicultural Event Delights with Dance, Crafts, and Cuisine The Early Learning Center (ELC) dazzled attendees with its vibrant Multicultural Night. The event, held on 4/18/2024, showcased an array of dances from around the globe, offering a rich diversity of cultural experiences to students and families alike. Participants at the Multicultural Celebration Night were treated to a journey through various dance traditions, featuring student performances from Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jordan, Mexico, and Nepal. One of the highlights of the evening was the interactive crafting sessions, where students had the opportunity to create their own banjos and tambourines using simple materials like paper plates. Additionally, they engaged in crafting hand fans, a staple accessory in many traditional dances across various cultures. As part of the festivities, students delved into the culinary delights of different regions, learning to prepare aguas frescas, a refreshing beverage popular in Latin America. The hands-on activity involved mashing watermelon and mixing various ingredients, providing a fun and educational experience. The Multicultural Night also saw participation from parents and students, who contributed to the event's success by dressing in traditional attire and setting up informative displays about their respective home countries. Some parents went the extra mile by bringing traditional snacks to share, further enriching the cultural exchange. It is heartwarming to have hosted such a vibrant and inclusive event that celebrates the rich diversity within our community, the Multicultural Celebration Night not only showcased the talents of our students but also fostered a deeper understanding and respect for different cultures among all attendees. In addition to the lively performances and interactive activities, attendees were treated to a sampling of snacks from each featured country and received multicultural books as souvenirs, promoting an appreciation for global cultures. District Welcomes Marc Russo for a Musical Extravaganza at the Early Learning Center We want to share the recent visit of musician Marc Russo to the Early Learning Center (ELC) for a captivating musical performance. The event brought joy and excitement to both the students and staff of the ELC. Marc Russo, known for his musical performances and interacting with students, engaged the students with a repertoire of songs that had the ELC students dancing and singing along. One of the highlights of the event was when Marc invited two ELC students to join him on stage for two different songs. The students were given a microphone and led the singing! This interactive addition allowed the children to shine and be part of the performance. The atmosphere at the ELC during Marc Russo's performance was filled with laughter, singing, and joy that you could hear at the front door of the building. We are grateful to have had Marc Russo visit our Early Learning Center and bring such joy to our students and staff, his performance was not only entertaining but also educational. Celebrating in Style: A Recap of Prom Night We are delighted to share photos from this past Saturday's Prom held at the Willow Event Center. The evening was filled with joy, laughter, and memorable moments, thanks to the collective effort of our staff, families, and community members. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the exceptional team who meticulously coordinated the event and chaperoned throughout the night. They created a safe and enjoyable experience for our students that did not go unnoticed. The night was adorned with beautiful dresses, elegant suits, and an abundance of dancing.The food and drinks provided were delightful, the live DJ kept everyone moving, and the 360 photo booth added an extra touch of fun and nostalgia to the evening. We also extend our gratitude to the many loved ones who drove students to Prom, ensuring that everyone could participate in this special occasion. Your support and involvement are invaluable in creating a sense of community and togetherness within our district.
