Rose Kahsar .is Mt. Healthy City School's Parent Mentor. She has a special role in the district and performs it superbly. She assists parents with questions and concerns about special education. She educates parents about the special education process, provides group support and supplies information about services and agencies in the area.   Information includes: Evaluation and Assessment Processes IEP Procedures Rights and Responsibilities Services for Special Needs Children Support includes: Explanation of IEP process and parents' role Moral support Information sharing Improved communication between parents and school Empowering parents Additional support referral Hosting workshops Assists IMPACT parent support group Extends special education beyond academic concerns to include social, vocational and extracurricular The Parent Mentor Program is funded through a state grant from the Ohio Department of Education.
