Members of the Mt. Healthy Board of Education meet monthly on the third Monday. Members, who are elected to four-year terms, are:
Steven A. Harness is committed to improving academic achievement, increasing parental involvement and improving communication between the district and the community serving as the Board representative to Mt. Healthy City Council. He's a 1971 Mt. Healthy graduate and has lived in the district for more than 50 years. Mr. Harness attended the University of Cincinnati, and works as a principal researcher for The Procter & Gamble Company. His community involvement includes Merit Badge Counselor - Dan Beard Council, Liturgist Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church, and President of the Cincinnati Silent Flyers. Previously, he has been Flotilla Commander, Vessel Examiner and Instructor - USCGA Flotilla 5-2, and Secretary- Staff Parish Relations Committee of the Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church. He has two sons, Michael, a 2000 graduate; and Bradley, a junior. Don Wolf is a lifelong Mt. Healthy resident. He graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1944. He and his wife Helen have been married for 49 years and together have six children (all Mt. Healthy graduates) and 11 grandchildren (two sets of twins). Mr. Wolf, who graduated from Miami University with a degree in business administration and graduate work in education, has served on Mt. Healthy's Board of Education since 1977, including in roles of president and vice president. He also served on the Great Oaks Board of Education for 10 years. For 16 years, Mr. Wolf worked in the family sheet metal business. He managed Mt. Healthy's parks for 25 years each summer and worked as a teacher and administrator in the Mt. Healthy Schools for nine years. He became assistant director of Hamilton County Board of MR/DD in in 1978 and retired in 1990. He enjoyes sports, fishing and travel. Robert T. Lawrence has served as a member since 1992. He has lived in the district for more than 30 years. Mr. Lawrence is a fabricator/crane operator and a member of the Springfield Township Democratic Club and Mt. Healthy's Athletic Boosters. He has two children, Brandon, a 1993 graduate, and Robin a 1996 graduate. He would like to see the distict become financial stable and continue its focus on student achievement. Emmett Kilgore is new to the school board this year. Mr. Kilgore has been an Emergency Medical Technician at the University of Cincinnati for 37 years. He has worked part time for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department as a lieutenant in the Special Deputy Program for 23 years. He is married to Verna, a bus driver in the district, and has two daughters. Mr. Kilgore is a graduate of Taft High School and served as a Green Beret in the Army Special Forces. He is a motorcycle enthusiast and officiates high school and college basketball games. He looks forward to seeing that "kids get the best education possible." Carole Ellis has served as a member since 1980. |
